Aboitiz Power Tour of Subic

RACE RULES

1. AboitizPower Tour of Subic is a cycling event where riders are individually timed.

2. Entry

2.1. The entry to AboitizPower Tour of Subic is open to riders aged 18 or older. Registration is done online at www.bikekingphilippines.com. Online entry closes at 300 riders or on May 11, whichever comes first. Bike King has the sole discretion over entry numbers and cut off dates.

2.2. Cyclists who held a professional license (UCI) below 50 yrs old are not allowed to compete.

2.3. Each rider has to ensure that his/her health condition is sufficient for the event.

2.4. Each rider is responsible for having sufficient insurance coverage. AboitizPower Tour of Subic may offer additional insurance at its sole discretion.

2.5. Entries are not transferrable or deferrable. No rider shall be entitled to an entry fee refund in case of disqualification.

2.6. Athletes confirmed in the race who wish to withdraw, must do so in writing to the race office, email: registration@bikekingphilippines.com

It is the athlete's responsibility to ensure the race office has received any communication.

2.7. Bike King reserves the right, in its sole and complete discretion, deny entry, revoke the entry application of any applicant at any time, and/or to disqualify any individual from the Event.

2.8. Participants must personally claim their race kit on race weekend at the registration center. A valid government issued ID must be presented. Race kits are not transferable. Illegal transfer of a race kit will lead to disqualification and ban to the registered athlete and recipient. 

3. Equipment

3.1. Category 2, 3, 4 and Female Open: Road Race
Bike: Only Road Bikes are permitted. The following are not permitted for safety reasons: Folding bicycles, Mountain Bikes, Hybrid Bikes, prone bicycles, recumbent bikes and bicycles with chair seating and mono cycles. Unsafe bikes can be banned at any time during the event. Triathlon handlebars and aero bars are not permitted.

3.2 Non Competitive Category:
Bike: any technically serviceable roadworthy bicycle is permitted. The following are not permitted for safety reasons: prone bicycles, recumbent bikes and bicycles with chair seating and mono cycles. Unsafe bikes can be banned at any time during the event.

3.3. Helmets must be worn by all riders at all times and have to be securely fastened with a chinstrap at all times while riding.

3.4 Timing Chip: Timing chip must be strapped to the bicycle fork at all times. 

3.5. Jersey number: the jersey number must be worn on the jersey pockets, attached by safety pins. Any wrong positioning or alteration of the number can lead to disqualification.

3.6. Wrist band: the wrist band must be worn at all times during the event.

3.7. Riders have to carry at least one spare tube and a functioning pump or CO2 cartridge.

3.8. Headphones and earphones are not allowed.

4. Start
Riders without their AboitizPower Tour of Subic bike number, jersey number, timing chip helmet and wristband at the checkpoint will be refused access to the start area.

4.1. Start order:
Category 2 – 6:00 am
Category 3 – 6:10 am
Category 4 – 6:20 am
Female – 6:20 am
Non Competitive Category – 6:30 am

5. Competition

5.1. All riders are timed by chip timing from start to finish. Only riders who complete the full AboitizPower Tour of Subic course are eligible for competition ranking and prizes. Bike King reserves the right, in its sole and complete discretion, to change the rules if deemed appropriate.

5.2. Categories:
Category 2 Advance 
Category 3 Intermediate
Category 4 Novice
Female Open
Bike King reserves the right to move a participant to a higher category if deemed appropriate.  

5.3 General Classification 
The participant’s total time at the end of the race shall decide their overall individual ranking. Individual overall awards will be given to Category 2, 3, 4 and Female Open. 

5.4. Prizes will be awarded to the top three in each category. Distribution of the prizes is at the sole discretion of Bike King. Prizes not picked up at the awards will be distributed to other riders.

5.5. Food and drinks may be taken on the right hand side of the road only at the designated area as specified at the route map. Anyone caught receiving food/drinks outside the feeding zone will be disqualified and banned from joining Bike King events at the sole discretion of Bike King.

Aid Station 3: Km 65 BTPI Summit
Aid Station 4: Km 73 Morong Gate Summit

5.6. Support vehicles, individual or team support are not allowed to support (moving support) anywhere in the bike course. Support vehicle may park at designated feed zones only.  Anyone caught receiving mobile support will be disqualified and banned from joining Bike King events at the sole discretion of Bike King.

5.7. All protests concerning the order of finish shall be examined and resolved by the chief judge, whose decision is final and without appeal. It is the rider’s responsibility to familiarize himself/herself with the rules of the event and the course before the start. Taking alternate routes or cutting the course short leads to disqualification from the current competition and to a ban at future Bike King races.

6. Abuse

6.1. No rider may be disrespectful toward race directors, officials, staff, riders, volunteers or spectators.

6.2. No rider may use foul or abusive language or conduct during AboitizPower Tour of Subic.

6.3. No rider may assault (an unlawful attempt, coupled with the present ability, to commit a violent injury on the person of another) or do battery (any willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another) to anyone connected with AboitizPower Tour of Subic (including but not limited to riders, spectators, public officials, volunteers, staff, etc.).

6.4. Any of the above will lead to disqualification and a lifelong ban from Bike King events.

7. Conduct

7.1. Cyclists have to obey all laws of the road including traffic lights and stop signs unless overwritten by police. Violators may be disqualified and removed from the event.

7.2. No rider may make an abrupt motion so as to interfere with the forward progress of another rider, either intentionally or by accident.

7.3. Any rider who appears to present a danger to the other riders may be disqualified by Bike King either before, during, or after the event.

7.4. Pushing or pulling or any other physical assistance among riders is prohibited in all categories. Devices of any sort to pull or push are not allowed.

7.5. Team cars/motorcycle or personal support cars/motorcycle are not allowed. Any rider being supported by a moving personal or team vehicle will be disqualified. 

7.6. If a rider is laying on the ground and is visibly in difficulty, any following rider has to stop and help unless there are already at least three people helping. The rider may continue if a) the victim is fine or b) medical personal has arrived. Help others, you may need help one day.

7.7. Any misconduct with respect to the above can lead to disqualification and a lifelong ban at Bike King events.

8. Environment
Bike King is committed to protecting the environment. Any discarding of trash or food outside the designated trash receptacles at the aid stations is prohibited and can lead to disqualification and a lifelong ban at AboitizPower Tour of Subic. 

9. Acceptance of Risk
All those who ride and compete under these rules do so at their own risk. No liability shall attach to Bike King or any of its officials with respect to any loss or injury sustained or caused by anyone competing or riding in AboitizPower Tour of Subic.

10. Rule Changes
Rules can be altered if deemed necessary at sole discretion of Bike King.
